The mission of the Florida correctional officers Association, Inc. (FLCOA) is to encourage Florida (FL) Correctional Officers (COs) to put on the full armor of God.
FLCOA is dedicated to creating strong community partnerships in support of the mental, physical, financial and spiritual health and wellness of FL COs.
FLCOA supports FL COs by educating the people of FL about the purpose and importance of the law enforcement profession of Corrections.
FLCOA is committed to securing equal recognition and respect for FL COs and Detention Deputies (DDs) who have sworn an oath to the state of FL and have a duty to serve the state as emergency first responders (EFRs) and law enforcement officers (LEOs) responsible for ensuring the safety and security of FL prisons and jails while providing care, custody and control of FL’s inmate population.
The Florida Correctional Officer Association, Inc. (FLCOA) works with educational partners statewide to develop a greater public understanding and appreciation of the law enforcement profession known as corrections.
FLCOA ensures that the mental, physical, financial and spiritual health and wellness of correctional officers is the top priority of all strategic partners.
FLCOA anticipates that an overall improvement in correctional officer wellness will result in improved overall care, custody and control of Florida's inmate population allowing for an overall increase in inmate substance abuse rehabilitation, an increase in inmate mental health recovery and a reduction in the overall recidivism rate in Florida being achieved.
Our Team is composed of dedicated and experienced Florida correctional officers. We have come together to educate the public about the law enforcement profession of corrections and to share proven practices, resources and strategies with our fellow correctional officers so that together we can work to improve the overall effectiveness of Florida's criminal justice system.
The Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA) is pleased to announce that DeSoto County Lieutenant Michael Bellflower has been selected as the 2024 Corrections Officer of the Year. Each year, the award is presented at the FSA Winter Conference to an officer who has demonstrated exceptional service.
The Florida Correctional Officers Association (FLCOA) applauds Monroe County Corrections Bureau Captain Jon Crane and PBA State VP James Baiardi in taking action and working together for the benefit of Correctional Officers and Detention Deputies Statewide.
